Introducing the emergency fast track at Community Hospital East

From 5 to 11 p.m., Community Hospital East now provides quick care when you find yourself with a small health emergency. When you arrive with an earache, broken bone or cuts and scrapes, our staff will take you directly to our emergency fast track—a separate area in our emergency room designed and staffed to provide complete, quick care and to send you on your way. Most patients are in and out in under an hour.

IOPO Honors Indianapolis Hospitals

In April 2003, the Department of Health and Human Services joined national leaders and practitioners from the Nation's transplantation and hospital communities to launch the Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative.

The Collaborative is committed to spreading best practices to key hospitals throughout the country to increase organ conversion rates. The Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO) works with hospitals to carry out the mission of the Breakthrough Collaborative in Indiana.

At this year's 2-day Best Practice Conference, (March 10-11) IOPO presented their 2nd Annual Donation Champion Award to: Community Hospital East, Indiana University Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children, St. Francis Hospital, Beach Grove, and St. Vincent Hospital as 6 of 17 Hospitals in Indiana who have demonstrated levels of excellence in donation. The awards recognize the hospitals' effort in making appropriate referrals, honoring patient and family wishes for donation, and achieving high rates of organs transplanted per donor.

Individuals are encouraged to register to become a tissue, eye and organ donor at donatelifeindiana.org

IOPO was founded in 1987 and is currently celebrating 20 years as a nonprofit health service dedicated to serving the citizens of Indiana by providing a link between people awaiting a transplant and potential donors. IOPO is based in Indianapolis and has regional offices in Ft. Wayne and Evansville.
